Stephen Bright, senior counsel for the Southern Center for Human Rights in Atlanta, will give a talk titled "Thurgood Marshall Was Right" this Saturday, December 8th at 10:30 a.m. at Touchmark, 1200 Harwood Drive South, Fargo, ND. Not only do you have the opportunity to hear from a prominent anti-death penalty advocate with a career interest in legal representation for the poor, racial discrimination in the criminal justice system and capital punishment, but Judge Bright has graciously offered to spend the half hour before the presentation with all students in attendance and introduce you to Mr. Stephen Bright. Mr. Iron Eyes will explore the role of lawyers and the media in two recent developments including North Dakota Congressman Kevin Cramer's public statements that he would not get a fair trial on an Indian reservation and the State of South Dakota's recent ordeal wherein it is being accused of violating the federal Indian Child Welfare Act of 1978.
